Support Featured Speaker Barclay Martin

One of the conference’s featured speakers is Barclay Martin, music director/composer for the film Zamboanga: Poverty/War/Music, is getting ready to release a new album. In conjunction with the album, his group, the Barclay Martin Ensemble, will begin a partnership with water.org to bring water and sanitation projects to Kenya.
If you’re interested in learning more about the album and/or the project, you can attend the CD release concert on September 24 at the Folly Theatre. Tickets can be ordered here.
Conference Purpose

- To promote awareness and understanding of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the U.N Convention the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and their local impact;
- To network with local, regional, national, and international organizations for Activism for Human Rights.

July 4, 2010 at 1:41 pm | Posted in CRC/CEDAW Conference | Leave a commentWelcome to the website for the Sixth Biennial Kansas City Conference on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The theme for the 2010 conference is “Activism for Human Rights: From Issues to Action.”
The conference is sponsored by the Center for Global and Multicultural Education (GAME) and the UMKC Women’s Center and will take place October 14-15, 2010 at the Embassy Suites on the Plaza. Featured speakers are Barclay Martin, music director/composer for the film Zamboanga: Poverty/War/Music; Elizabeth Alex, lead anchor at KSHB-TV; and Jolie Justus, Missouri State Senator, 10th District.
